How to Choose Computer Memories?

1. Confirm whether the computer is a laptop or desktop

If you are using it on a laptop, please choose a laptop memory module. If you are using it on a desktop computer, please choose a desktop memory module. The two are not interchangeable.

2. Confirm the DDR generation and frequency of the applicable memory module

The current mainstream is DDR3, DDR4, and DDR5. The three are not interchangeable, but the frequencies within the same generation can be backward compatible. Please remember to choose the memory DDR generation suitable for your computer. In terms of frequency, DDR3 is generally 1333MHz or 1600MHz, DDR4 is generally 2400MHz or 2666MHz or 3200MHz, and DDR5 is generally 4800MHz or 5200MHz or 5600MHz. Note that if two or more memory sticks are used at the same time, they will run at the lower frequency. How to confirm the specific specifications of your computer is as follows:

2.1. Confirm the generation through the hardware identification or computer and motherboard specifications, such as the slot identification on the motherboard, the original memory label, the specification parameter table and other identifications to confirm the applicable generation.

2.2. Use software to assist in confirming the DDR generation and frequency

Software 1. Task Manager (comes with Windows)
Desktop->Taskbar->Task Manager->Performance->Memory->Speed

Software 2. CPU-Z
Download software CPU-Z->SPD->Max Bandwidth (Max Bandwidth)
